Hi Blinders! I am posting on behalf a friend interviewing for an R&D engineer position at Medtronic. What types of questions are asked for the interview? #health #medtech #engineering #interview #medtronic
I just erased the files I had prepped for my last interviews that I’ve done, but essentially there’s a file that HR has that has a list of standard questions to ask, but on the technical side we come up with 3-5 specific questions...I typically do a search on the person or review their GIT for things that they have done and ask specific questions around that. I’m more looking for a personal fit to my team than for someone with phenomenal ability...So to answer your question, they could get asked anything, and it’s not something I want the person interviewing to “Study” for, I just want to see how they interact with myself and a few coworkers while we ask questions, some technical others more interpersonal.
Medtronic has standard Interview guide and HM assigns different competencies to different interviewers. They all are STAR questions though, nothing rocket science

R&D engineer II
I’ve interviewed candidates for R&D positions in the past. For E2 one of the most common experiences is test method development. Provided your friend has that on their resume, I would ask them to talk about that experience and would then think of some questions on the fly. These might be related to sampling plan, acceptance criteria, deviations, statistics, etc. Of course there’s other questions such as how do you handle decision making that my business unit loves to ask
