I'm trying to get a sense of the job market for Product Designers and UX Designers. I've been applying for four months with no luck and urgently need a job. Do you have any specific recommendations to help me secure a position? #uxdesigner #productdesign #productdesigner
Market continues to be terrible with layoffs continuing to happen leading to crowding. Seniors are applying for mid-tier roles displacing more junior levels. The easiest path is to find a contract role and hope it converts to full time in future. Good luck. What is your YOE btw?
Could you please suggest where can I find contact roles? YOE- 4
Your best bet is to establish a good working relationship with external recruiters or recruiting companies like TEKsystems, Aquent, Bamboo Crowd etc.
Horrible for mid and juniors unless people have headcount for a backfill. Unless you’re looking for a director role it’s incredibly hard to find an open role.
Agree except the director part. I know plenty of directors who are struggling to find roles due to there being a lot less of them. Many are taking high level IC roles. By far the most common title out there right now is "senior designer" with this usually meaning 5-7 years experience. Next I would say it's the lead/staff/principal title since those can overlap depending on how each company defines them. This would usually be those ICs with 7-12 years of experience. Either way it's tough because of what another said about crowding and those looking be willing to take slightly more junior roles than preferred or those who were managing moving back to IC roles.
I would try an adjacent or another industry if you can. the job market won't get better until the interest rate goes down. I'm sorry.
Been looking for a year, it's not good
It depends on your portfolio and how you are marketing yourself. I have been getting a ton of interviews and close to a few offers.
Might be the whole 'worked at Google' thing, too
We should all listen to "Dr Brule" that man is a genius 😜
It’s competitive; but a friend of mine who has a startup offered someone who’s currently unemployed a role, and they turned it down because they’re confident they could get a TC of at least $250k elsewhere. So maybe…not that bad? From my vantage it looks rough, and I’m happy to help anyone who needs guidance or just someone to talk to.
Hi, can I dm you?
