Two-part question: 1. Can anyone expand on the responsibilities and accountabilities of a UX Design Manager at Google? What makes one successful? How much is hands-on design/craft vs. management and oversight? 2. I’m currently a Principal at Microsoft (a manager of managers, total team size of 20) with 8 years of direct UX experience. (15 in design more broadly.) What level would this translate to at G? L6? Thank you, community. TC: 265k #design #ui/ux #google
I am surprised by that TC too
Your experience will probably translate to L6, after typical google-fashioned downlevel.
UX research? Or UX design? Or UX eng?
Design
How long have you managed people? Is total team size of 20 the sum of those who report into you? I think that’s at least L6. Director level would be many years of managing teams of 30+ designers
