It is somehow assumed to have poor work life balance, but I wonder if this is true. So world love to hear if there are engineers at E5-E6 who have great performance , comp and still manage to leave work at 5pm for kids pickup and family time. I understand that efficiency increases as you stay longer in the company. So curious also how it works for new joiners, do you have to put crazy hours to keep up? #facebook
It's pretty fucking great. The team I'm on world on seasonal stuff so forth quarter ha kinda crazy but other than that I rarely put in more than 50hrs a week.
50 hours is a lot
Comes down to your own preference and how good you are at your work too. Plenty of gifted folks leave putting in their 40hrs of work and are more productive than those putting in 50hours. My 50 include a lot of time spent with ERG engagement, online trainings etc. It's just an overall productive place where you don't feel super anxious, generally, have supportive coworkers who are fucking brilliant and a ton of opportunity to grow. If you're not spending 50 hours or more to take advantage of all the offerings available because of kids etc. Likely FB is not the right place for you.
Wlb is good, speed of development is slow. Engineers quality is okay-ish
You set it yourself but with this culture it’s gonna be bad.
It’s not that bad. I only work 9am-6pm and a few 8pm-10pm at night. Maybe a bit on the weekend... On second though maybe I should apply to LinkedIn :) TC is 500k excluding growth.
May be. I have heard speed or development and no-bullshit culture is better at Facebook. But can’t afford more that 40 hours a week.
That is 50+ hours a week. Sure it’s better than doing same thing at amazon for 300k but still is not sustainable workload.
How is wlb at Linkedin?
Worse than Amazon
