Is Cloudera a sinking ship?

The stock is going down. What is going on inside Cloudera? Is their business eating away by competitors?

Seems like they are Titanic

Stock has been consistently going down since its IPO. It has been a sinking ship and now it is about to break.

Hadoop on prem installations are mostly a thing of the past. Cloudera is milking everything it can out of existing customers to pad their balance sheet.

Why of the past?

Hulu thanos4u Jun 14, 2019

Meaning new tech companies are choosing Hadoop when building out their data infra / data lake as readily as maybe 5-10 years ago, and are much more likely to select a cloud-based datastore vs on-prem

Cloudera be dead

Cerner @BigData Jul 31, 2019

What happens to companies who have 1000+ node on-Prem cluster. I think they will continue to stay a float, but not strike big gains, until they change their product/services line up.

Capital One Dude45 Jul 31, 2019

Those customers are migrating to the cloud and use tools like Databricks, snowflake, etc. A 1000 node Hadoop cluster is actually really small for tools like Databricks and Snowflake. It’s what we use at cap1. We migrated off our Cloudera cluster because it couldn’t handle our workload.

Sunk .... not sinking.
