Uber AI org
Looking at opportunities and recruiter is mentioning the Uber AI org. Wondering what people think about this org and how is it? Hopping to learn about the work it does, impact, visibility, WLB, culture etc.#tech
Where does Uber actually use AI? ML sure, some neural net sure.. Wtf is an AI org?
That's what the recruiter told me, I have no idea about the internal structure. So does Uber not have an AI org?
AI org is 80% Michelangelo stuff - cool team, they’ve a bunch of blogs you can check out. Tldr mostly ML infra + dev experience etc. Has some very senior/smart folks. Would definitely recommend. The person above saying where does Uber use AI is ignorant. For starters, eats home feed ranking and estimating driver ETA among others things are typical ML models.
Thanks for the insight! I would have thought that those (home feed ranking or driver eta) are being done within the product team, interesting that it's actually done outside and in the AI org?
They’re for the most part done in the product team by data scientists/ML engineers. MA has the e2e deployment/serving/retraining/ML dev experience etc solutions.
