I have an offer from uber eats to work as a data scientist. They’re currently transferring my h1b visa. However now I am anxious that they will rescind my offer or I might be part of layoffs, being one of the latest people to join. My current job doesn’t pay as well as Uber but is relatively stable and also has a great learning curve. I am not exactly sure if I should stay at my current job or still go with uber Old TC - 105k New TC - 195k Since I am on an h1b visa, if I do end up losing my job, I would have only 60 days to find a new one or else would have to leave the country. Hence, compensation is not the only factor I am considering.

“My current job is stable”. It is not, my friend. Trust me. Just go with Uber.
For a moment I thought it was those 75% off meal offer if you join Uber One! But alas, it’s for One Uber and not Uber One 😊 what’s the tc offered and difference between old and new?
It’s almost double haha. I updated the post. If I was not on an h1b visa, the compensation alone would sway me. But if I do end up losing my job, I would have only 60 days to find a new one
I would take the offer. Uber just recently finally became profitable. Still wouldn’t invest in them because of huge cash burn but they have strong engineering talent to work with and pay top salary. I don’t see them rescinding and layoffs typically target existing underperformers first. Go for it.
No offers are being rescinded and tech has no plans for layoffs. You’ll be fine
No firing in the roadmap, no offer is being rescinded as well. Join Uber, you will be fine.
What’s your YOE ? Could you post the offer breakdown
