Does Uber take pride in doing so? Heard this so many times, in a boastful way. I have a hard time believing Uber's engg bar is higher than Google. If a Staff at Google is on the same level as a Senior at Uber, I really need to know what the hiring comittee is smoking.

An Uber recruiter in 2014 told me the company would be worth 100s of billions of dollars soon, so I should not negotiate hard for better RSUs. I asked her why they were being conservative, it'll be the first trillion dollar company, I am grateful for getting any stock at all. π

it is very unlikely you get L6 at Google. Uber titles are inflated and google titles are much harder to achieve. also Google underslots people. People who start at L6 are typically profs from top schools, directors of medium-sized companies, or people who led well-recognized product in the community.
It is not uncommon a person from Google will get an offer one level lower at Uber. Never higher. We have data on this.
you stats dont matter, Google L6 or L5 are much harder to achieve. we had at least 2 bullshit-level l3 engs in our org, who got promoted to seniors in Uber in something like 2 years. even if you are senior at Uber , it is very unlikely you get the same title at Google.
