If you use both apps as a rider, which one do you like more and why? Serious question. Not asking about company, pricing, brand, driver quality, or any operational issues like support quality or car ETAs. Just asking about the mobile application itself as a piece of technology. Genuinely curious what people think Edit: if you think both apps are pretty much equivalent and are not a differentiator in any way, would love to hear this feedback as well
I use Lyft probably 99% of the time. Overseas, uber is my fall back. The tracking all the time is what made the difference. 100%.
Uber doesn't find my home in appropriate way. I have even opened a support case a year ago, but they don't care at all. So, switched to Lyft, they work fine.
A lot has changed in a year. You should give it a try.
Lyft. - I can't remember all the addresses I go to well, it's really easy to manually enter a list of addresses and nicknames at once in lyft. With uber you only get the option after a ride and only for the destination not the pickup point. When I open uber next I'm usually in a hurry. - its less laggy - easy to add multiple stops - actually recognizes where I put the pin down on the map. Uber seems to reverse geocode the pin, send it to the driver, then convert it back to GPS coordinates. This is very problematic if I want to be picked up on a certain side of a building. - doesn't spy on my location after I close the app
Lyft. Uber app launches slow and has major lifecycle issues, defaults to higher priced options which feels like a dark pattern, and is generally buggy entering pickup/destination fields. Lyft just works. Just wish it didn't take so long to match Line rides. This is on Android.
defaults to higher prices options? I don't think that's true. Perhaps you used it a while ago.
This was about two weeks ago. Opened it up and it defaulted to the page that has Select/Black (neither of which I've used in the past couple years). Happened to a family member too. Could just as easily be a bug though.
Whichever is cheaper for the ride. Never had any memorable problems with the app/location-finding , I find them pretty comparable
Uber has complex mobile application. I like the LYFT Mobile application more than uber one.
I use only Uber but after reading all this comments I will give a try to lyft.
Same boat for me, made me download lyft thanks I guess?
Lyft. It’s simpler and easier to understand and use. Uber app is a mess of unnecessary animations and weird interactions
The workflow on the Uber app is very counter intuitive. also, Lyft defaults to cheaper options.
Lyft is better at finding my location. I used Uber in Europe a lot one time a couple years ago and it routinely placed me blocks alway from where I was.
Did you have a wifi turned on ? (Not for data, but it's actually used for positioning)
This question, from an Uber employee, explains why Uber cannot get location right. Yes wifi is enabled but wtf do you think my phone would be connected to an access point, especially a foreign country. As if my xfijnity account is going to work in butt fuck Germany. And you guys are going to build self driving cars ? Good lord.
