- Unfriendly to drivers and consumers (tipping practices) - No innovation - irresponsible engineers/products. Promo over societal impact But… they have paid high TC up until now and so blind somehow has high regards for this corporation compared to something like Apple or Microsoft, where they actually build good products and will continue to build things for the future. At Uber, the hope is to partner with Waymo/AVs who are doing the real engineering and so that Uber ride on their outputs to lift the corporate value
What is the greatest technology Uber has?
Uber did some ok stuff with some highly manufactured blogs, but it’s really mostly reinventing the wheel or over engineering solutions to problems. Overall it’s mediocre and overpaid engineers This company doesn’t contribute to technology like Google, Microsoft, Meta, AWS, etc who have actually elevated how we build software
Ok
> irresponsible engineers/products. Promo over societal impact It’s common in companies that pay well.
People have high regard for Uber? Lol
Ya some cs students and on blind lol makes no sense Some people like you are right to realize that it’s a garbage company though lol
No innovation? Are you high?
Not in the past several years. Are you high?
Yeah… I am
Uber changed how people live. This is all that matters.
FK Uber, I had worked there and we did some sleazy shit in the early days 🙄 but man was it fun!
Apache hudi ??
As someone who has travelled to 20+ countries, the significance of Uber is unparalleled. In a country where I don't speak the language nor do I possess their currency, Uber surely is a boon during those travelling times.
I am more pointing out things like the problematic practices at this company. For example, excessive lobbying in government to avoid paying fair wages and offering basic benefits.
Hopefully a lot of people do… and people do care
What the f do you mean monopoly, isn't lift doing the same thing?
