I accepted an offer about two weeks ago and am about to start in two weeks (5a, ~400k). With yesterdays news that drivers will be employees, I’m much more worried about layoffs. Should I start interviewing immediately? Not many companies are hiring unfortunately. Thanks
Is the offer tc after considering front loaded equity or average?
It's possible that Uber could layoff. Unless you can prepare for 6-12months of joblessness, I wouldn't suggest changing job right now. But statistically your next year comp is probably still higher, assuming your chance of being laid off is < 10%?
I hope all those people become employees. It will screw with the liberal employees who voted for these politicians. I love it when people vote against their own interests.
Didn’t know Uber employees were a borg hive mind. You realize you can work for someone and disagree with your employer right?
Trumpies aren’t the smartest
Too risky
Similar boat. Joining next week. Hope there is no layoffs. I don’t feel like focusing on interviewing but I am kinda worried. I’m on visa, worst case will switch to h4. What’s your offer breakdown?
Kind of in a similar problem, joining in 2 weeks for l4. However I read that Uber Britain had already adjusted to this and still had good numbers
I don't see any layoffs happening. The mood is really good atleast in engineering is really high. We are having summit at uber and everyone seems super pump and excited
Uber’s last round of layoffs was 2020. Good luck.
Are lay offs by teams or individuals?
