Uber on-site interview

Got an onsite with Uber that I need to schedule. Any thoughts on SFO office vs Palo Alto? Which teams are good vs teams to avoid? Recruiter recommended interviewing in Palo Alto as backend engineer for mobile platform team - driver or Rider teams? Any thoughts on this

Does not matter which office. Just pick based on your convenience, recruiters suggestion and the team you like.

Yea, went through some blind posts about some teams toxic culture, too much hustle etc and with all the noise got totally confused

What you read and what is real is completely different. I have worked in many companies and it's the same or better here. There was a higher importance to performance and growth and hustle im some groups simply because the company was fast paced and growing so fast but even that is better now since they are making it much more employee friendly.

Yes, media hypes too much. Hustling is ok once in a while but quality of work degrades if it's a way of life. Just want to stay away from that.

You still want to join?

You know, it has not been a long time since Uber replaced Amazon for employee treatment spotlight.

Debating but no harm in interviewing. Uber does have some fun engineering problems to solve. So in the right team it might not be so bad.

Palo Alto is hell to commute in and out of.
