Uber is 13 times bigger than Lyft and that converting from duopoly into monopoly by simply buying out the competitor seems to be the right approach TC: 320k
Sharing your total comp is also another
I mean it depends if Lyft wants to be bought out
Why even buy Lyft anyway? You have the same app already? You can just hire some of their engineers
In addition to the FTC never allowing it, Lyft has one of those borderline unethical dual class share structures. Believe the founding team has the majority of controlling share, so it’s not an easy case of making a reasonable offer above market.
What if instead Tesla buys Lyft? Which would hand made way more sense than Elon lighting 40 billion on fire by buying Twitter
Why buy when you can just let it shrink and avoid FTC.
Lyft tried to get bought out but Uber bailed on the deal. I think it would be cheaper for Uber to just kill Lyft off.

Hello FTC!
Real question. Do you know the details? Is it really as simple as 'you can't buy a similar company since it'll lead to monopoly'
No, it’s much worse. Being Uber the PR for doing anything remotely offensive, or not, will be even worse than the wrath of the FTC, and that’s saying something.
