Lyft had only one competitor in ride sharing still they failed miserably. 1) Do you think they have incompetent engineers monkey coding their Jira’s aligned by Product 2) Bunch of Product owners who got in by doing some coursera courses 3) Poor management who thought with almost no or just one competitor they will can survive doing nothing. Use cash flow to buy loss businesses like Citi bike, Auto self driving cars etc.. TC : 200 Anything else anyone we missed to define failure. #tech #uber #lyft
The FTC might block that though, because it would essentially leave Uber a monopoly.
But lyft ride sharing business will shutdown anyways the way they are operating
We can get rid of Lyft once JPMC stops calling their team leads as assistant managers and managers as VP’s
Typical SDE thinking the product’s destiny is entirely dependent on coding quality. Grow up. If you need an example of a commercially great product with a shitty code and culture behind, you can study Amazon.
And OP doesn’t know how to create a poll.
Amazon will swoop
Not possible as they are not profitable and ride share business is always going to be in legal troubles which no tech company want to associate with. Unless they have real use to monetize with new tech like self driving
That is waste of Ubers money plus legally impossible. It is a slow death for Lyft unless cash rich company comes in and buys it.
Warris dis?
Lyft is better, it however isn’t as corrupt as Uber ( I used to work for Uber) - good doesn’t win always, evil wins for short time, but long term Lyft will do well- Uber needs Lyft to survive and Lyft knows that.
Everyone goes through ups and downs. Lyft has faced several issues in last 3yrs and failed to handle them well. It doesn't mean you are judging them correctly. I mean, you are judging them at their lows. You criticize them for buying loss businesses but Uber also bought several loss making businesses. Many companies do that. (Shows your bias) There are several companies that didn't diversify. There are several companies that didn't expand internationally. But we are facing the tide against now. I think, it's just some hard luck. Certainly, Our leadership made some wrong decisions, lost the fight with several unexpected things going against them one after the other. Sad thing is that they didn't do anything in the last 1 yr to correct. Good thing is that we now have a new CEO. Although it's too early to judge him, I am liking the direction/approach he is taking. His decisions might not please investors in short term. But it's taking us in right direction. I am optimistic about regaining our lost foot (seeing positive results already but we are in for a long Ride).
@upxm26 this is the best message I’ve seen in a while. I used to work at Lyft from 2016-2020 right before Covid. It was a good company and it still is. Curious about the upcoming cost cut plan? Is it true that there will be 2nd layoff before the new CEO onboard?
Thanks. Yes, there will be additional layoffs. This was told by both Logan, JZ in fortnight in Feb. Not sure if it will be before or after.
Last thing Uber probably wants is to get in a lawsuit for being a monopoly.
But lyft ride sharing business will shutdown anyways the way they are operating
One scenario result in a lawsuit, one doesn’t. Can you guess which is which?
