What do you think looks better on the resume?
For all the people picking Google what comp difference would make Uber worth it?
Uber = state school , google = Ivy League. Both are good but one clearly has the name recognition. Ex. You can be a history major at Berkeley and get a computer science job. Try that with a San Jose state history degree.
Having had offers at both, it really depends on what you're after. On a average the G brand name can't lose. If you're early in your career G can establish you but you can move a lot faster at U. No harm in G for 2 years and finding the next U. The work is on average a lot more interesting at U
Why’d you choose Uber?
Googl has more $$ and more wlb. Uber is about hard work and less pay :(
Google looks better on resume but I'm picking Uber over it bc more growth potential, higher TC, and I get more ownership.
I still don't get why people believe there's less ownership here. I've actually seen people complaining about the opposite. How exactly do you think you'll have more ownership at Uber than at Google?
Misworded. I meant higher impact, which is generally just true the smaller the company. I'll be in ATG which is already a smaller part of Uber and I get to work on problems I know I find cool on a project I care about.

lol, don't be mad, just accept the truth. People want to go from first tier companies to Uber because they fantasize being millionaires after the IPO, nobody goes there for the projects, it's just a car ride app ffs. Don't get me wrong, I almost did that too (who doesn't want to be a millionaire, right?) but ended up rejecting the offer because the manager who did the behavioral interview with me made it pretty clear how fucked up the backstabbing culture was there (those were Kalanick times).
