Under Budgeted Start Up

I been working for this start up as "I am doing everything" Data Scientist. For about 2 years (5 months for free) I worked creating and developing ML and data pipelines for this product. The idea was that I was going to start company share vesting as soon as I started getting paid (after the 5 months working for free). I have an engineering degree and I switched after taking a bootcamp. Not the best but I definitely was there for the grind. And since I had no experience it seems like a good trade for gaining experience. Fast forward 2 years and my pay has barely increased and just realized that I was being in a test period and vesting did not started until march this year. In this 2 years the team consisted of 2 SWE (one working outside US), 2 interns (still not graduated) and me (lead Data Scientist?). I got put in a situation where I needed to be an expert with almost no experience. I definitely learned so much and I am thankful, but I had to maintain a second job in order to deal with bills for the last 2 years. In addition to 10-12 hrs workdays without counting my second job I just got overworked and ready to leave. I am still learning about the industry but the CEO of the company has budgeted 85K a year for my position as a "lead" Data Scientist, also the same for "lead" SWE when the product gets released to the market and we have full revenue stream (I am getting paid 65k after 2 years and no vesting yet). We are still barely a team of 3 at this point. I don't know enough about start ups but I don't think even with a better share vesting a "lead" DS will take my role at this company. They are paying too low for the amount of work and expectation. I thought that when hiring for start up you need to hire top talent and pay the price either with shares or with a high pay. I didn't get either, but I am just top talent in development (I hope :)). I needed to do something about it, and that is why now I am looking for referrals for DS or machine learning engineer. I will really appreciate if anyone can provide a referral or even maybe they are hiring for these roles. I worked hard on my linkedIn to make it competitive. Also if you have an opinion about this. I might be completely wrong but I think at the end of the day I would like more work-life balance. PS Startup is located in the midwest, I am trying to move to the pacific North West #referral #data #datascience #machinelearning #google #meta #amazon #hiring #jobhunt #microsoft #slack #paypal #facebook #twitter #dropbox #amazon #atlassian #brex #instacart #square #twilio #faang #datadog #snowflake #rubrik #bloomberg #stripe #snap #lyft #uber #spotify #apple #robinhood #yelp #vmware
