Underpaid

Just realized I’m underpaid by 40% compared to my counterparts should I ask HR for a salary review? Just go get a better offer and present it to them? Or just quit and work somewhere else for more? #payme #hrissues

A question about being underpaid without providing your TC is a sin here on Blind.

Depends on how you found out

There’s no sense asking, companies do not negotiate in this way. If you feel you’re underpaid and have a good opportunity outside get an offer, write a resignation letter indicating you’re open to a counteroffer and be prepared for a very low chance of a counteroffer and a very high chance your manager will wish you good luck in your new role.

Never take the counter. Just bounce.

I cannot agree with this more!!!!

HR cannot just increase your pay by 40%. Update your resume, start interviewing elsewhere. If you’re really keen on staying at your company, give them the chance to counteroffer

That’s my general advice. If I were in your shoes, I would ask myself why I want to stay at an employer who is under paying me by 40%

Start searching for a new job but don’t quit until u have an offer in hand. It may take a while to find one.

Please realize you are a player in the market and do the rational thing by seeking opportunities elsewhere. Your company obviously doesn’t value you appropriately.

Get an offer from another company and move on. If you are under paid by 40%, your employer does not value your services.

Not always. Maybe he accepted a very low offer and then it creates a real problem for his manager to bump him up by 40%. He should have known his value better.

Investment Bank Glinda Feb 14, 2022

I stand by the company not valuing him if it is underpaying by 40%, but you are correct that the OP should have known what his services are worth. I think we all go through that learning curve
