Hi folks, we are new parents and have a question about school ratings. We are planning to move to a new house with to Kirkland with Lake Washington School District and while its known to be a good school district, the area the house is falling into has elementary school rating of 6/10 by GreatSchoolsRating (Carl Sandburg Elementary school) - Is that a rating that we can trust? Or is there a better place? At other websites I just see A,B ratings and this school falls in A category. - Does anyone have their kids or friends kids in this particular school who could give me reviews? - Theres also a choice school in that area, whats the difference between choice and public schools and why would one opt for one over the other? Thanks! #parenting #workingparent #lwsd #seattle #kirkland
School Diggers, go for test score comparisons. Everything else is “arguable” and uncertain https://www.schooldigger.com/go/WA/schools/0423000660/school.aspx To be honest 6/10 is kinda on the lower end, in addition to not being a good school, will impact the resale value of your house.
never knew of this site, sounds insightful. Thanks for sharing
This isn't true anymore. Bothell homes with 6 ratings are selling for.1.5 million
I don’t know either but interested to understand best ways to find the right school for my kid.
Put your kid in a school where there are kids of similar family background…stability, consistency and peaceful growing environment
You got the idea wrong. You don't choose the school. You choose the other parents. Most of the ratings evaluate objectives of the school that are mostly irrelevant to the ultimate success of your kids. What friends your kids hang out with is the single most important factor
There’s more than that. Individual Teachers matter far more than the name of the school, excepting support programs for certain types of needs.
Until he moves and kid goes to school, he wont know the parents or the kids for hanging out
