Unemployment: Seeking Assistance and Support

It's been 8 months since I got laid off, and I'm feeling really low. It feels like I've wasted time on the wrong things and made some poor career decisions that landed me here. The job hunt has been brutal, with countless rejections and frustrating interviews. I'm struggling to find the motivation to keep pushing forward. Plus the financial strain is starting to hit. Eventhough my partner is supportive, it's tough going from having a manageable income to suddenly having none. I'm seeking help because I'm struggling to figure this out by myself. Also, worried about the career gap. Did anyone encounter any challenges or concerns related to their career gap, and if so, how did you overcome them? Edit: I am looking for a SWE role TC: 0 YOE: 3 #layoff #jobhunt #software #engineer

I’m on the same boat. Interview burnout is real. Things are starting to look slightly better now. Hold on for a little more time pal.

Sorry to hear. Times are tough. I know it’s easy for me to say but you have to keep grinding and learning. Keep on trying. It helps to set your expectations low but your efforts high.

Maybe you can try freelancing for a while and see how it goes, it is hard, don’t lose hope, these are just the bumps on the road and you will eventually get there, let me know if you need referral for Hackerrank!

Do freelance or join a startup to avoid having much gap. Keep looking even if you get hired by a startup with a low offer. Worst case, join with one of your friends to launch a startup.

Sorry to hear that. Job gap should not be an issue. However, try and see what’s the gap. Agree market is very competitive. May be expand your search and be open to other areas? Also Try autoapplypro. I got few calls after that.
