Walmart has worst Managers & Directors at Global Data organisation. Below are my observation so far. 1.I have seen most of the managers are just working on some shiitty tools just to impress their management. There is no real product value coming out of the extra work they are asking us to do. It's inturn affecting the work life balance of employees. 2.In every town hall/internal meetings all the managers just take turns to praise the Directors/Sr.Directors. (Town halls are meant to discuss about improvement of the process/to know each other/ appreciate the employees who are putting their ass to work 15 hrs/day / discuss on better way of doing the work). If all the managers just want to praise the VP/Directors they can set up a separate call and do that. Why all 250 ppl are required in the call? This Boot licking culture is spoiling the teams. Even the developers has started doing the same in internal calls. No one asks a question to Managers. 3.IJP (Internal Job b Posting) has become a joke in DSI. I have seen people who dont deserve are getting promoted to next level. One of my teammate who wanted to move to different team applied for IJP and the manager threatened him saying even if he applies for IJP it will be stopped by the director. Its employees right to apply for IJP but these unethical managers are doing politics. The HR team is worst as we haven't seen them after joining Walmart. I think these managers instead of working in tech industry should join some political parties. They have all the qualities to become Indian Politician. Most of the teams at Walmart Global Data Org are following the same culture and I don't see any improvements in the culture near soon. I sometimes wonder why Indian management is so political and insecure. The good guys never seem to move up the ladder.
True and a lot of shit is happening, instead of solving any problem they are either asking Google/Azure to solve it or bringing startups (eg astronomer for managed airflow) Now all the work happening in walmart is just MIGRATION
True.
DSI is shit place.... no WLB and managers who simply want to impress upper management and eat away our productive hours through meeting and additional process they want to follow
True.Walmart DSI is shit place.
Same corrupted Indian shit culture is going on in supply chain analytics team. Unskilled managers are getting promoted to director level even when they don’t deserve it without delivering any value or failing altogether. Buttlicking is the only skill you need to get promoted and afterwards the Indian guy hired Indian folks under him to hear praises and save his @$$ when things go south and there are subordinates available to blame. Join supply chain analytics in SB if you want to experience cancel culture and be silenced when your boss takes all the credit for your deliverables.
I worked in that org few years ago. Now I see most of shit people have been promoted to principal engineer, Sr manager, director by doing shit.
Is it bad than Amazon? Since u are at Amazon and worked at Walmart, what r ur thoughts
Amazon is bad in culture and WLB but u can't usually get promoted by doing nothing productive. You will get credit for what you do. But overall, I find amazon worse.
