My employer of 7 years (4.5 years FTE and rest through contracting) has let me know in my 5th year of H1-B employment that they would not commence with my PERM process. Banging head against the wall. My employer had an original policy of starting with PERM around the end of the 4th year, and early 5th year. Currently, I am being told, they are unsure of my role and hence would not commence till they have taken stock of all the positions in the department and determined redundant and non-redundant positions. All of this "taking stock" is due to the new CTO hiring. Many of my colleagues were let go and attrition is at an all-time high. I am blaming myself for my stupidity(laziness in not switching jobs earlier) and for waiting for 4-5 years for them to start my GC process. I also don't have it in writing when they said they will process my GC in my 4th year. By the way, my employer is one of the largest employers in Tennessee. I am scrambling to find jobs in and around Boston or remote that can file for my GC within the first few months. I will be at risk if I don't switch jobs soon. I have been applying for the last month and have not gotten many interviews. Would anyone be able to give me any referrals? My 5th year starts 1-2 months from now and am now worried about my 6th-year extension. #h1b #workvisa #referrals #boston #remote #stupidity #perm #gc #i-20 #unfair #help #fidelity
Try Amazon, they might transfer you to Canada after H1B ends and bring you back later once visa issues are sorted out. There are many job postings on LinkedIn and many people offering referrals on blind for Amazon.
I have started on LC , planning to give an interview soon.
LC and Leadership Principles(LP) for Amazon
With your situation, only consulting companies can help at the very least. You need to start asap as the entire process with thr given timeline takes 1.5yrs (best case). Even if you start with companies giving day 1 perm, the process is unbearably slow.
This. Amazon, fidelity, goldman sachs , Visa. Try for these
Exactly this is what I was looking for , thank you. Do you know of any more companies that consider sponsorship. I applied for all of the ones you listed.
Switch to big tech with presence in your home country. Even if they start your perm after 6-8 months. You’ll have option of moving to your home country office temporarily until you get I-140. Then you can get your H1b stamped again.
You did a big mistake by staying in this company for 4 years. You could have easily found better job who should have filed your GC. time is running out for you. Join any company who filed your PERM asap.
Captain hindsight in the house yo
To me it’s not hindsight, it’s just common sense. Anyone on H1B should have they GC process started in 3rd year. Most of the companies don’t hire after 4 year of H1 and no I140 approved. One should know about his/her priority and act accordingly
