Unpopular opinion: LinkedIn is the best social network

Sure it has its fair share of cringe but it’s tolerable and it gets the job done. We don’t have all the PR issues like Facebook, instagram, TikTok, twitter, etc. You go on the platform and you face zero harassment. You want a job? Jump on LinkedIn. Want to network with REAL people? Get on LinkedIn. If you can tolerate a bit of cringe it’s the best platform out there. My real hot take is that LinkedIn is also the most financially successful social media platform out there and it will stay that way. Every other platform is entirely ad motivated while LinkedIn is not. TC:200k

Zero harassment/Toxicity is probably because there’s a real profile/network that is connected to one’s livelihood that requires everyone be on a ‘generally-accepted’ good behavior. If LinkedIn wasn’t tied to our livelihood/source of income, the same issues on other platforms will mostly be there. Interestingly, with the growing demand for canceling people for what we deem to be ‘offensive’ behavior, there may be a tilt. However, if a faceless account can exist, then the likelihood that harassment/toxicity will likely persist.

LinkedIn’s quotient of cringe is rapidly increasing compared to career quotient. This can possess a real threat if LI turn away major genuine audience san influencers san self-proclaimed leaders san ranters. Look at what happened to quora. It is becoming more embarrassing day by day to login to watch people rant, post cringy stuff. It is not even like I followed any of that yet LinkedIn throwing it on my face. The day will come when people will stop logging in on LI that frequently.

LinkedIn is missing the entertainment aspect of other social media. It is useful, but not fun.

Linkedin is dogshit and gets worse everyday. Its just another place for egomaniacs to bid for attention. All the jobs on there are not worth my time. Sure there is some value to the networking but it's not worth it. I disabled my account.

Agree with op. Linkedin has much more diversified revenue streams. A good chunk is from subscriptions and contracts, which is great in this economy. Also agree that with real identities on the platform people don’t care about what they say. But lots of fake accounts lately too.

I work there and I disagree strongly. As a company it's great to work for. As a social media platform it's pure unadulterated cringe.
