I am doing some phone screens and couple of onsite interviews without any offer. Google recruiter pinged and set up an interview. But she is behind me on where I have been for onsite. I am not a faang material. I am just taking it as it is on my way. Because of this I am even thinking to pass over. Should I say her where I have been and be open? Update: I spoke to the recruiter and I told her the truth because Google is not my priority. Interestingly she cancelled my phone interview and scheduled my onsite. I am so puzzled. Any thoughts? Has anyone had similar experience!
She emailed me three times asking which companies I have made to onsite.
I’m not sure how saying what places have rejected you would be of any benefit to you. If you think you’d like to take a shot at it then do the interview. You don’t have to tell recruiters anything you don’t want to - just don’t lie. Do your leetcode and good luck!
You have nothing to lose, fake it till you make it. Most of what any faang company does isn’t rocket science. Very few people actually work on cutting edge research or some other super duper thing, most do pretty much the same day to day stuff any of us does
Telling recruiters jack shit about what you're doing in your career search gives them info to deprioritize you. Even if they're good opportunities, the sheer fact that you share this info with them says enough about you that they may interpret to mean desperation. Tell them you're interviewing, but don't tell them where or give much detail about how far along in the process you are. Tell them you don't feel comfortable sharing more information than you feel is necessary. It's respectable to see someone not grovel at the hooves of FAANG.
What do you mean that she is behind you on where you've been onsite?
