I am a final year student from Tier 1 college, India with Math + CSE background. I have two offers: 1. JP Morgan Chase - Quantitative Researcher CTC: 38.5 Lakhs , Base: 24 Lakhs 2. Google - Software Engineer CTC: 37.5 Lakhs, Base: 21 Lakhs I would be choosing jpmc if the other offer was from any other sde company. Google has always been one of my dream companies and now I am confused as what to take. I would like to settle abroad in a few years. If I join JPMC, I will try switching to a different company with more pay. How much is the money difference between these two fields say 10 years down the line? And the work pressure. If anyone has made a switch from Quant to SDE or vice versa, please share your experience. I also had some plans to do an MBA. It is not finalized and I am not yet convinced of the ROI. As for the going abroad or MBA plan, I want to do it in three years cuz conservative parents will try getting me married by then and it will become more difficult after that. #quant #engineering #software #google #jpmorgan #career
How much is jpmc paying for sde role this year ? And which iit ?
Did you take the JP offer to Google and see if they'll match it? I've worked at both and it's not even close. Google every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
From what I know Google's new grad offer is same for everyone and non-negotiable. Also, were you quant at jpmc, because there swe and quants are very different.
You either want to be a quant or you want to be a swe. JP sucks for either
Could you provide a breakup of that CTC? It isn't clear if this is the first year compensation.
Both are first year compensation
I was a quant at JP, now a SWE.Feel free to DM me. Overall I feel it doesn’t matter much you can switch from Quant to SWE anytime I feel.

I chose GS Quant for the same reason. I feel if your goals post MBA is to stick to finance, choose JPMC. But if you want to be closer to tech (like PM) post MBA, choose Google. I'll be applying next year to US for MBA and I choose GS Quant because I wanted to go for IB/Venture Capital roles post MBA.
