How do they hold up? Thinking about buying a ~2020 Model 3 but I’ve heard some bad things about quality
I was looking at one of those Hertz used Teslas. Let me know what you do.
Never buy an old rental car. They’re treated like shit
It can be a mixed bag. Those Teslas may have barely been used. And fleet vehicles are maintained very well, better than most owners.
Bad idea
The quality issues are mainly cosmetic. The actual drivetrain are built like tanks
You want a car that squeals and rattles every time you drive it?
Depends on mileage. Battery warranty is up after 100k miles. Battery change will cost you 20k+.
Battery change is almost the price of the car ? Exaggerating ?
Not exaggerating just look it up. Why do you think their resale value plunges. It’s an almost 100kw battery, on panamera hybrid even that less than 20kw battery is 25k to replace.
If you are worried about quality then don’t buy a Tesla used or brand new. Tesla and build quality mix like water and oil
Buy 2021+ w <50k miles if you are interested. Personally I think the hertz EVs are fine. The battery warranty is 8 yr/100k miles and you seldom have any issues with EVs. 21+ because the car is much quieter. It’s a cheap commute car with tons of fun especially if you qualify for the 4k used EV credit and you can charge at home. I used to spend $200 on gas easily a month and it’s less than $50 now. Otherwise, I’d suggest you to buy a new model Y RWD to get the full 7.5k credit. It was <$35k new after the credit couple weeks ago with the inventory discount. Battery replacement is about 13k for model 3 for now. By the time yours really need a replacement, it will be < 10k and you can still drive (100+ miles) with a degraded battery.
Good luck repairing one if you need bodywork. Insurance companies will only pay 1/3 of what Tesla quotes, and you’ll have to pay the rest. A single repair can wipe out years of fuel savings.
I got hit twice and the insurance covered all cost. The only complaint was that it took a long time to repair due to high wait time (not many repair facilities). I was put in an ICE rental the whole time so you will need to make sure you have a rental policy and insurance cost is higher if Tesla insurance is not available in your area.
Lmao, asking how are used Tesla's is like asking what are the negative side effects of Luum body deodorant, there needs to be more time to "get the data.". It's a bad idea. When was the last time you bought a used battery and was happy with it? When was the last time you were happy with any battery? That's the major flaw with vehicles like Tesla.
Op, I suggest you rent a Tesla from hertz and you will see the quality of their used Tesla’s. I am a Tesla owner, long time EV owner, and I have rented Tesla from hertz multiple times. I won’t buy used ICE from rental companies but you have less to worry about rental abuse with EVs in general. I don’t buy EVs because they are green. I used to own MBs and BMWs and Tesla’s are way more fun to drive and the over the air software updates keep your car fresh with additional features. Everything has their pros and cons so you just have to decide what’s more important.
