Hi, I am new to tech industry (but a tech geek). I want to be a UX researcher. Education : PhD in Extension (Sociology and Anthropology) Experience : social science research (4 years) Ux research (a semester of UX design course) Research Methods: Quantitative and Quantitative Any suggestions on how to apply for a UX researcher position (only, not a designer). Thank you.
Feeling the same. Have 9+ research experience in academia and policy. Also has a Ph.D. in social sciences. I feel my every effort to break into this field is failing. :(
Do you have a portfolio showing the impact of your research on your company's products?
But how you can make a portfolio when you have not worked in any industry but only in academia. You may be have worked on different research projects but the impact is not visible because academia is slow (in terms of implementing the insights).
I am developing one.
Companies will have very different standards and expectations of researchers. Some want researchers who are fast and scrappy, some want researchers who are steady experts on specific methods, some want researchers who will just take orders and execute studies, some want researchers who can lead discovery and strategy, some want quant experts, some want qual experts, some want hybrid... Find companies that currently employ researchers who fit your approach,m and style, and apply there. In other words, apply at companies that hire phd researchers.
