How to invest in India as an NRI?
Hello, I'm thinking of applying to Booking.com SWE in an infra team. Wanted to know what kind of technical questions they have both for LC and for sys design? Also I read that a referral skips you some steps, is this true? Anyway, any info is appreciated! Yoe:3+ #booking #engineering #software #swe #interview #interviewquestions
Referral skips you nothing AFAIK.
Referral dose not skip anything
Referral do not skip anything. Just that it will not be filtered
ping me in dm for referral. Referral does not skip anything. Also, bkng tends to do normal coding tasks close to our business instead of LC
I don’t think that’s true, regarding use of normal coding tasks vs LC. Most of the questions I see asked are adapted from LC questions. There’s one that I know is adapted from a LC Hard. Non-senior roles usually don’t need to implement an optimal solution though, so I guess that brings the questions closer to a normal coding challenge. Regardless, I think candidates should be prepared to answer an LC medium. Booking is very competitive in terms of compensation currently, so interviews could become more strict.
There’s 4 interviews; recruiter pre-screen, coding interview, system design interview, and fit interview. Before the coding interview you’ll also have a timed online assessment with a few coding challenges. Referred candidates don’t skip any of these, but the referral could get you past the part where someone needs to check your CV. Which could be useful in this hiring market. Coding interview questions are usually LC mediums. For non-senior roles, optimal solutions are usually not mandatory to pass, but you might be asked how you’d optimize your answer once you’re done. The interviewers will also pay attention to your communication skills and how proficient you are with your chosen programming language. I’m not sure how to gauge the difficulty level of the system design questions, but they’re definitely at a level where you need to have the fundamentals down. Check the System Design Primer on GitHub at the very least. The system design is on a whiteboard, and it could include API design, data modelling, service architecture, adjusting for scale or latency requirements etc. Be sure to ask about the scale, e.g how many requests/timeframe, how much existing data is there etc. You’ll be asked to justify your choices, and that’s difficult to do if you don’t understand the scale. Fit interview questions are identical to Amazon’s Leadership Principle questions. Have a couple different stories for each leadership principle prepared and you should be good. Be kind in your interviews. The interviewers usually want to see you succeed, so ask questions and be open to hints.
Oh, and it goes without saying but while even a brute force solution can sometimes pass a coding interview, if there’s another candidate that does implement a more optimal solution, they could be picked over you. So keep that in mind.
what is recruiter pre screening
Only internal candidates skip screener and OA.
Please let me know too, if you find anything on this
