A cautionary Roblox tale - part 2 (stay away from Roblox)

TLDR: after 9 successful interview rounds and with strong recommendations from hiring team still Roblox HC committee / user groups rejected with no proper reason. I read this “A cautionary Roblox tale” post and thought it cant be common and wont happen to me as thr is no confusion around wfh or other job related expectations. But unfortunately, looks like Roblox HC started enjoying rejecting candidates at this stage by wasting candidate and their own hiring team’s time. I recently went through the interview process at Roblox and want to share my experience as a warning to other aspiring candidates. Let me sare step by step process - - Recruiter contacted me for the position, discussed about the role and asked my availability to setup hiring team manager round. - Hiring manager round done and recruiter told me that manager is really impressed and ready to go ahead with your onsite. - Went through 4 virtual onsite, i found hiring team very cool and supportive specially hiring manager. All rounds went well, I was confident that I will b through. - Recruiter said with in a week he will get back to me. After waiting for 2 weeks approached recruiter myself by email , as there is no cell no. In their email signature. - After 2-3 emails and ~7 days he finally responded saying there were lots of organizational changes going on so he could not respond 🤦🏻 - Now he says there is another position under same Org but different manager, and that manager wants another round. I was like what is this now? But agreed. - Had another round with that manager and then one more with his manager. - Recruiter shared they like me and want to onboard me asap. - here comes the most critical part, next coming two rounds - they call it executive and problem solving. - Recruiter hardly shared any useful information around what kind of questions I can expect from specially that problem solving/ bar raiser round. - At this stage I got to know that they also call their problem solving as bar raiser round too, seriously? In this round interviewer may ask any open ended question with no right or wrong answer. - Executive round went really well and I could sense right away that I cleared it. - In bar raiser/ problem solving round, interviewer was an engineering manager from different org and with his initial introduction I could sense that he was not interested in this interview or he had a real bad day which was reflected on his face. - He started asking some back to back random questions without paying attention to my answers and at the end he asked weird open ended question- which I never expected. Overall I tried my best to frame the answer but as I said he seems not to be interested. - To my surprise, recruiter told me next day that u cleared both the rounds specially executive was really happy. He scheduled a round to discuss about package too. I was like yeah I did it! - Recruiter shared a high level numbers with me and said now hiring team will prepare the whole package and share it with HC.but he assured me that it will be done without any issue as my case looks strong. - After few days recruiter comes back and says, bar raiser raised some points and hiring team is working on those to support your case. What the hell, why didn’t the recruiter saw this information at first place :( - After again few days of wait, he asks me to provide more information about my background experience, certificates, my startup documents or whatever I could provide to make my case strong. - I provided all those docs and waited for another week. - Finally I got an email from recruiter saying, unfortunately we are not submitting your case to HC as user groups are not okey with your package. The kind of feedback you got from bar raiser is not good enough to go ahead and submit it to HC. So after 9 successful rounds of saga in last 2 months, hiring team eager to onboard, executive is so happy with your answers, bar raiser rounder is ok with some minor points to work on to your package is not strong enough to submit to HC?????? What the hell is this process? If ur bar raiser/ problem solving round is so important why cant you get this done first, this way it will save both candidate and ur hiring team time . And what is this disconnect? Initially bar raiser said ok you verbally shared package numbers and suddenly its not good enough to even submit it to HC. At the end I would just say, Roblox interview process is a joke, please stay away and save your time. Like other stories on blind I was given very strong assurance that I would receive an offer multiple times from the end of my interviews until now. Don't be like me and think that the applicant horror stories you read here can't happen to you. I wasted total 2 months of my life in interviewing with this stupid company, seriously it feels really bad when companies treat you like this. As a candidate what you can do is just prepare hard and give your best in interviews and clear the rounds.
