It's the absolute wrong time to ask this question. We r still recovering from the max 737 debacle.

Software engineer as in the one that development directly for airplanes or the engineers that develop apps to utilize data or improve process? They are different in Boeing. And they have different titles

Some of the Boeing software is written for $9 an hour

Boeing aemg38 Jan 16, 2020

$9/hr USD is actually a lot of money in India, that's what's misleading about the infamous article that stat comes from.

Boeing Oppai Jan 16, 2020

That's not really the point I think he was trying to make, they outsourced majority of the software work to India and you can imagine when you hire over 10k contractors to build software not everyone communicates, I remember a project I had to maintain was so poorly written that in order to change the font, I had to change it over 100 times because each person that went in there made a new variable for it...

True, I still think that their unfairly blamed. Some program manager came up with the acceptance after all, and the decision to sell the redundant sensor as extra came purely from business.

Na, after years of Dev, the CEO saw it and said it was childish and they scrap the project then they brought in another team to try to revamp it and what I said above happened.

Just be ready for crapload of red tape — it’s necessary though. Everything needs to be checked and double checked especially with the 737 MAX situation looming over our heads
