If you're in IBD, I'd suggest trying to get into TMT and then go from there. It's do-able, but you need to network pretty hard, find others that went the path. Another option is to try and go to PM at a tech company, and then from there. VC is pretty selective, so you've got to have an "edge" in whatever you're trying to do. If you find a sector-specific fund that you have experience in, that can help. Otherwise, pure financial experience is challenging.
