Hello, Has anyone got any idea of what could be a good TC for a Network Virtualization Engineer at VMware? I'm negotiating an offer with VMware but their initial offer was too low around 100K base salary without RSUs, according to the recruiter this position doesn't have RSUs. To me, this is too low of a salary, the level is MTS2. Thank you,
VMware used to pay a lot of money but then cisco managers came into vmware and it has become another cisco. So mts2 won’t have rsu because they know someone will work without rsu fresh out of school. There isn’t much skill required for mts 2, specifically in network virtualization .. most likely it would be maintains vrfs across hypervisor for different vms. Or may be their horizon vm product.. Trust me you would be better off in Palo alto networks for same work than vmware. Try that, that company will grow faster than VMware.
I think the recruiter was lowballing. Right after I mentioned how much is my base salary with my current job, she said well then I think that's not something you would consider!! without me saying a thing. I only see 100K in small companies, but big tech.. The role is with NSX team.
Yeah NSX is full of cisco folks. Entire nexus 7000 has moved there. This is why the budget is less.. may be they are talking to someone with 100k and he or she might have showed interest
