VP / CTO in Series B Start-up vs multi-strat platform Hedge Fund

Hey guys, I joined the start-up in 2017 as one of the earliest employees. Spent five years at my current company. Harvested about 4.5 million USD after tax (equity + cash). Liquidated 2.5 million USD. Current TC is around 400k USD, including equity. Company size is around 200. I will be promoted to a VP Eng role if I stay. It's a consumer-facing product, and I have seen a tremendous adoption of the product we built, which makes me feel a strong sense of achievement in doing good for society. I am approached by a group of ex HF (top multi-manager multi-strat HF) who are starting a new shop and offered me a VP Eng role reporting to a General Partner CTO with a TC: base 400k USD, 100k USD guaranteed bonus and a potential take rate from the PnL. Total annual comp exposure could be around 1 million, subject to AuM and performance. Apart from earning some cash, I am still determining the VP Eng role in a multi-strat HF: - What kind of world will it be like - tech is the 2nd class citizen? - Any sense of achievement on the social elements? e.g. Recognition, identity acknowledgement etc. Apart from financial rewards, I care about the social impacts and recognition from the career/projects/jobs. Any insights or suggestions from this brilliant community? #hedgefund #multistrategy #startup #career #wealth #fame #social #financialservices #esop #equity #fintech #tech #finance

8 YOE More context: My scope of work changes every year and new strategic challenges come every quarter, I have done 0-1 startups, scaled teams 15x and 20x and both took off. One is at Series E with a valuation of 350mm at peak and the current one is at Series B with 300mm ish.
