Is a VP an actual Vicepresident in GoldmanSachs? Or are the roles inflated?? Can some please explain?? #goldmansachs
VP is the minimum title that can actually make transactions on behalf of the company, so there is arguably some inflation there. I think there are thousands of VPs.
A VP at Goldman is Senior Software Developer equivalent. Levels are not inflated the term means a different thing in banks. Analyst —> Associate —> Vice President(Executive Director in EMEA) —> Managing Director The hierarchy at banks is surprisingly flat and VP is mostly a terminal role.
There is another level above MD called partner but for all intents and purposes mostly can ignore
Everyone’s a VP at a financial institution… VP of teller window # 1000, 1001, 1002, etc.
My friend a VP in Goldman Sachs joined as L5 lowest band in Amazon.
Good to know! Thanks guys!
VP is just to ensure you're in a comp band. Real VP is an "executive VP". Swe will not be that.
