Hi All, I have a hubspot offer of Senior Software Engineer 2. I am concerned if going to the hubspot will have a negative impact later in the career (getting senior roles later in big tech). What do you all think? Hubspot is remote and I kinda want to be away from amazon grind for a couple of years. Also, I am not very happy with current team but i have a verbal offer from another internal team if i decided to stay. Current TC: 380k (L6/Sde3) Hubspot: 310k + signon 25k.
Are you stupid? Why consider a lower pay offer?
TC isnt everything, hubspot is remote and i kind of want to out of seattle for few years
This attitude from Microsoft is what I hate about this industry sometimes. As if all that matters in life is money and title
Its fine if you are happy. Who cares after 5 years the leveling might not even effect.
Will be worth if you leave Seattle to somewhere cheaper or travel around for a bit exploring. If you just sit on your ass at home stay at Amazon and get money. As for pay this seems bad considering Hubspot pays pretty decently
I will 100% not be in seattle, haven't decided where will i move but its going to be in a cheaper city for sure
Congrats! YOE?
Thanks, 7 YOE, will update the original post with yoe too
Why not change teams in Amazon? HubSpot is becoming Amazon lite. I doubt you’ll find happiness in HubSpot and may be later regret about low TC.
Could you elaborate? Is the work culture at Hubspot toxic with bad wlb?
Well i was hoping hubspot is alot better than amazon and also its remote :( , are there soecific teams in hubspot that one should avoid?
L6 at Amazon maps to Senior at Hubspot ? I’m baffled
Any chance I could dm you regarding how your interviews went?
Yeah ofcourse
I think that’s what HubSpot offers for Senior 2 and unlikely to get much better than this. Question though is why you’d consider taking low offer that’s at least 70K lower than your current TC. Not worth the loss in TC unless you are getting fired from Amazon
The main reason is the remote option, I can't find any team in amazon that will allow remote work and i sort of want to be in chicago for few years.
OP - you trying to work from Zambia ?
Congrats on the offer! Most teams at hubspot are decent in terms of WLB, or just non-toxic leadership in general, so you're more than likely to be happy with the move. You'll also earn more than at Amazon over time as your grants stack yearly if you perform well. DM me if you want to know about the specific product group you are joining.
How are the yearly refreshers at HubSpot ?
Can I DM you?

I am starting to think Chinese interviewers currently fail non-Chinese candidates on purpose.
kinda lowball for 2 i think
It was weird, the recruiter was very firm that this is the final (and only offer)
Any idea if hubspot offers are valid for few months? I have a decent chunk of stocks vesting in may and i am wondering if i can say no to current offer and then join after may if there is any SSE2 openings then
