For folks who have lived in both, where would you rather live if you have to live there for the next 5-8 years or so. Vancouver TC getting better with remote jobs. Id personally vote for Van since the people are way better. Tc 300
Seattle's only advantage was tc but that seems out the window now
Both cities feel and weather is very close. You will get paid more in Seattle and no state tax
Paid more yes but Seattle folks are meh
What's your definition of meh 😑
Vancouver >>>>> Seattle assuming salary >=175k CAD
Umm I don’t think even 175k cad cuts it anymore.
Are you from Van, Google? I see you on Van posts a lot
Vancouver less sketchy and more peaceful and better immigration system
And better transit
Can you tell me which companies in Canada pays good with 5 yoe
The ones I've seen here just today: Fb amzn apple oracle Twitter instacart and even fucking grammarly
😂 thanks mate
Is 340k$ CAD a good package is Vancouver?
You get that from meta (Facebook)?
Approx I calculated if i move yes
Vancouver is heaven in comparison to Seattle. Unless you like homeless people?
And Amazon plastered on your face everywhere
Van has massive homeless too
Not sure what people above are talking about. Most likely none of them actually lived in Vancouver or in Canada. I lived in Vancouver for 2 years and living in Seattle now. Prices are crazy high, real estate very expensive, healthcare is a joke, taxes are enormous, TCs are crap and you pay more taxes for them lol. I’ve got 1.7x more TC in Seattle and paying 15% instead of 25% in Canada. I’ve seen with my own eyes how a guy made injections of drugs right in the middle of a street. Stay away unless you have problems with US immigration system.
I bet that was pre covid
Seems like tc went way up recently
Even if Canadian salaries get to being at par with Seattle (which I seriously doubt), tax differences alone are well worth living in Seattle. The differences are astounding, in particular towards higher numbers. Lived at both locations for a long time. Canadian taxes are brutal for salaried folks. To put things in perspective, for a married single earner 400K+ would get you in a close to 50% average tax bracket in Vancouver as a whole (this is not marginal, that is higher) vs something like high 20s% in Seattle. That alone is 20%+ of tax difference - roughly 100K USD for above numbers.
I’ve heard Vancouver property prices are ridiculously high for Canadian salaries.
Seems Canadian salaries are now as high as us ones...I was stunned to see it
But go to Redfin and search for properties in Vancouver, they are 2 million+ USD
