I don't like Vanguard 401k investment options for both traditional and after tax. Are there any strategies to invest in individual stocks with 401k money while I'm still with my employer?
See if google has separately managed brokerage option or self directed brokerage within 401k. Decent amount of companies do. Gives you more access to MFs and ETF, some are restricted on stocks
Thanks. I guess I'll give vanguard a call.
There aren’t from what I’ve found, unless you want to abandon the company match. That said, open up a back door Roth IRA and then transfer it to another brokerage like TD Ameritrade, and you’ll be able to use those funds to trade individual stocks/options.
Thanks for the comment. Currently I'm rolling over the after-tax potion to my roth IRA account and investing in individual stocks. But the downside is the earnings are stuck in Roth IRA until I'm ~60. That's why I'm looking for alternative.
That holds true even for 401k
