They are essentially getting you the fed funds rate. Banks paying less than that are doing the same thing, but pocketing the difference.
It’s good enough for liquid funds. It’s better than my usual retail checking account (Chase, BofA etc) so I use it.

Make sure you subtract the expense ratio from the interest rate, in many cases a high yield account like Wealthfront or SoFi will come out ahead
I think fidelity’s default government money market fund is about the same. Every brokerage offers a similar 7-day yield now because t-bills yield 4.5+. You could just buy t-bills yourself and reap the 4.5-4.8% yields. Otherwise if you’re lazy, just shovel money into a brokerage account and have it in their liquid money market funds
