Hello all, I am looking for advice on how to transfer from corporate accounting to corporate finance—interested in being a financial analyst or going to FP&A. Was a senior accountant with Enterprise Holdings with supervisor experience. A concern I have is what job training looks like when going into corporate finance. Is this something that can be done remotely or should I look for a company near me? I'm based out of Atlanta, GA. Would prefer remote or hybrid work over in the office every day. Any recommendations or referrals are much appreciated. Thank you! #corpfinance #finance #fpa
I am in Business Finance (not FP&A) and haven't visited the office since day 1. My whole team work remotely. Happy to refer you!
That would be great! Heard great things about bus fin with Amazon. I'll dm you.
What is the difference between Business Finance and FP&A ?
You’ll be fine. Corporate finance isn’t hard.
Just apply to jobs online and don’t overthink it. But a few bullets on your resume that might be how you work with your fp&a team
Thanks fun guy!
It will be an easy transition, I don't think you would need too much training for it. So don't worry about finding a company near you, cast the net wide!
Also never depend on someone else to train you, take it into your own hands

I was an M&A consultant before joining FP&A at Amazon. My advice is to tailor your CV to include experience in: 1. Building financial projection of some sort (could be building a financial model, or simply projecting P&L) 2. Interpreting financial statements and making recommendations 3. Using reporting tools (BI Power, or even a simple spreadsheet) to present financial results periodically All the best!
Thank you for the comment! That's a new approach I've been taking lately. Hopefully it works soon!
Just keep posting for financial analyst jobs. Accounting is the forefront of a strong analyst. I think with your background you should be able to pivot. I wouldn’t even call it “pivot” to be honest. Corp acctg and fp&a are quite complimentary.
I work in FinTech. It's great, build and manage the financial systems with none of the crazy deadlines.
How long have you been in FinTech? Have you been with other companies in the past? Interested in learning more.
I've been in the space for about 13 years. 5 years in FAANG. Most FinTech orgs need a healthy mix of engineers, product managers, program managers, and analysts.

Its truly heartbreaking, I can’t work. I can’t focus, isn’t there anyone who can convince Israel to stop Raffah invasion
Where are you at in your career? Could do MBA
3 years with corp accounting and 1 1/2 years with insurance sales. Haven’t considered getting my MBA yet. It is something I want to do at some point.
Don’t spend the money on an mba for this. MBA is only worth it if you can get into a top 20 school and want to move into front office
