My manager is not there to support any part of my career. He will be either quiet all the time or there will be complains. I am denied aws training of 2 days which could have helped me on learning and building a prototype using tools needed in our project. The 10% learning from training time exists only on paper. You know you will be targeted towards forced PIP when you notice your manager randomly and aggressively attacks you and intensifies every small thing to a big deal. A few months away from major stock vesting, and very typical treatment of keeping me on "focus" (performance documented dev plan) is real. Speaking of my performance, I have been doing work sprint to sprint as agreed upon and then some extra work towards unexpected new items. Pretty regular on this. Then why all of a sudden I am a low performer. Never understand this because manager won't tell. All I hear from him is continue doing what you're doing. That's what I have been doing. So confusing. To me it feels like 10 hours of everyday grinding is not enough to be an average performer according to the culture at Amazon. Started to lose energy and attention towards work. All I wish is another job before it comes to 60 days of unemployment on H-1B. I don't think I can afford to trust my manager ever but I don't have any choice either since HRBP will only believe my manager's monologue. I can either do my work as an engineer or play politics full time like my manager. I can't afford to do both. Who am I even fighting to? :(
It’s mostly SDE2 that always complains and are in PIP. Why is it so?
May be not much SDE1 left to be PIP'ed at this time. First sde1 then sde2 then sde3 and the cycle continues.
Saw op vent, very sus.

Sorry to hear about your horrible time at amazon.
Seems pretty common from what I read. I wouldn't get too attached to your identity at this company, either you switch out to a new manager if possible or suffer in your current one. he may have already decided to choose you as his scapegoat. That hurt to write. This company, its PIP culture, and horrible managers make it such a joke. Many managers don't give meaningful feedback and it's advisable to not trust them too much at any point. If it weren't for covid affecting the job market, I would be out of here

OP of that post was a total leech who pretty much admitted to slacking off his entire tenure at Amazon. The manager of the person who wrote that post was right to put them on PIP.
I think you drank too much koolaid and actually believe in those LP. Don't be mad at the kid because he knows how the play the game. Everybody is gaming the system, even the manager. The system in amazon is set up this way, nobody is actually thinking about the good of the company. Everybody is looking out for their own necks. And if you don't understand this, you will go nowhere in life. Your company does not take care of you, you don't have to be personal with the company.
