Verizon Wireless Most contractors are laid off effective immediately

As of 5PM almost every single on the contractors working on projects for Verizon Wireless were notified that today would be their last working with Verizon. Of course infosys will reallocate them to different projects. #layoffs #verizon #contractors

Shit's going down the shutter!

Sounds about right, now we just gotta cut this shitbox union contract so we can stop paying these pole jockeys 65$ an hour for nothing a dude out of high school couldn’t do.

You ever climb a tower? I did campus wireless on a 350 foot water tower and not a job I'd like to repeat. Verizon Wireless, not fiber pole maintenance.

These “contractors” are not the ones out in the field. They’re mostly working in Software. Should’ve mentioned it in the posting with clarity. Management says this is a cost saving measure.

They work on stuff like Verizon.com

You mean every contractor in VCG or just your org? This is huge news if it's all VCG and surprised how little I've heard about it.

Infosys xPdC84 OP Jun 4, 2022

In my project, there were close to 55 contractors working onshore and offshore not just from Infosys but also from other outsourcing vendors like Tech Mahindra, Accenture etc,. 5 contractors remain today in their projects. It was so difficult to hear the news from all the people one after the other. And People who moved from across the country after receiving their opportunities. It must be gutting to be on the receiving end of all this.

That really sucks. We have quite a few contractors in our org. Wondering if I'll hear something today.

What we need to get rid of is the “Woke” c-suite and BOD.

Verizon Chris👋Rock Jun 5, 2022

We need to get rid of old dinosaurs like you

Verizon SbQo51 Jun 6, 2022

We need to get rid of the entrenched bureaucracy. Verizon is full of moral hazard BS and people running tiny kingdoms not focused on doing anything meaningful for the company.
