With the recent debate on Abortion, I just realized that the perspective that several people took were very similar to the ones used previously on the Healthcare, Immigration and Death Penalty debates. So, I wonder: Where are you on the political spectrum? What do you think is worst? That a guilty person goes free or suffers no consequences? Or that an innocent person is punished for something it was not their fault?
Far leftist. It is bad for the population when the state controls our ability to reproduce or not; it’s bad for us when the state can sentence us to death; it’s bad for us when the state controls our movement across borders. Conversely, we have more power and freedom if we can quit a terrible job and not worry about loosing our apartments or healthcare access for our family.
@op are you a US native? I feel like you might not be only because otherwise you’d know that it being worse to punish an innocent person is an American ideal across all political leanings which is to say it’s actually based on a moral question rooted in Judeo-Christian values that the country was founded on.
It’s a western world thing, not an American thing
@Tier1 you’re correct, I stated it a bit too narrowly but still based in Judeo-Christian values.
