I read today that Broadcom might be buying Vmware. Any thoughts? Insights? #vmware #bro
If that happens then be prepared for a massive layoffs .. I have seen it first hand.. broadcom is ruthless and any BU which isn’t profitable substantially then Broadcom will sack it
When will they do the cut? At the time of the acquisition? Or after several months?
Was there for the symantec acquisition. My friends tell me they are still laying people off(at a smaller scale) to this date.
Next company in line to suck the life blood out of vmware after Dell. As an ex-vmware employee, I feel bad for the company.
Why did you leave the company?
Even I left Vmw this month and joined Atl... friends are telling it’s a great timing
this article thinks Dell will oppose the sale as he has 40% ownership... let's hope this does not go through https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.theregister.com/AMP/2022/05/23/broadcom_vmware_acquisition_reports/
I came here to say the same thing. Michael Dell still owns a sizable portion personally as well.
What I have seen in the past is that anything Avago puts eyes on will be sold.. Broadcom Symantec are some examples.. they weren’t really in loss loss
Qualcommm 😛
It took an executive order from the POTUS to save Qualcomm! (not to mention the lobbying money it cost Qualcomm)
What about the rumor of Google buying VMware? That would have been so much better!!
That was always wishful thinking. Google is too smart to waste their time buying us
Google acquired us, I used to think the same way when the original rumours started. You never know ....
Btw question about it.. what I heard is that if google buys some company then it interviews the employee before they take them in the google.. is it true or just rumors ?
Can't be true
if that happens half of the employees of any company would be laid off
This won't be good for vmware employees atleast in terms of wlb or benefits. I feel vmware is better independent. Any public cloud company won't acquire vmware, it would be companies like Intel, Nvidia , etc
Broadcom pays considerably higher than VMware. Maybe those who get to keep their job will get a pay boost?
I dont think so thar broadcom pays considerably higher than VMw

Wow, the acquisition was announced in June and layoff started in Nov. We have 6 months to leave vmware. Run!
Do we sell vmw or hold?
Sell
Sell
it isn't a done deal... ongoing negotiations
Sure. Thats why I asked for insights ;)
