Java and Ruby are both legacy dead languages. Put your effort into Python.

Pretty sure Java is still the most used enterprise language. There are and will continue to be a crazy number of Java jobs even if it’s not the most popular language for new services.

Java is not dead @Amazon

At least Java is like the cobol in non-tech software codebase and will have jobs till retirement . Ruby doesn't have that. Just stick to Java or put your efforts on languages like Python or Scala

I don’t think it’s worth moving to Ruby now. It’s an interesting language that a lot of companies still use but it’s fallen out of favor and I’ve not seen too many new thing being built with it. Python or Go would probably be a safer pick, if you like Java then check out Scala or Kotlin, if you are feeling adventurous then Rust or Elixir could be good as well though those are a lot more fringe.

Ruby is only used in monoliths at this point and companies actively are migrating away from it

Don’t do Ruby. Stay with Java. Lots of tech companies use it for backend and scalability. It would learn another JVM language like Scala.

Ruby is not worth learning. Only startups use it and it's because of legacy investments.
