I put in 5k in a mutual fund named PAUAX (pimco all asset all authority fund class a) 10 years ago. https://www.google.com/search?q=MUTF:+PAUAX&stick=H4sIAAAAAAAAAONgecRozi3w8sc9YSm9SWtOXmPU4OIKzsgvd80rySypFJLiYoOyBKT4uHj00_UNK8uTigzNM_J4FrFy-4aGuFkpBDiGOkYAAPnVMOhKAAAA&prmd=nmvi&source=lnms&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiK27OjlobjAhWPHzQIHTs2B1wQ_AUIESgA&biw=360&bih=560&dpr=3 Since then i always saw my balance in it to be less than 5k, usually around 4k, which is its current value. So it never grew. Is that correct as I dont fully know how funds work? How to confirm it was poor investment? Can someone suggest alternative safe investment to move the money too? It seems it's considered a good fund, so i suspect i am missing something.
Sounds about right. I don’t invest in funds with such a high fee. It’s a fund of funds they need to pay salaries to expensive managers.
Also it makes sense that it went down over past 10 years......should have put it in an SP500 index fund, would have done much better
what do you mean by "it makes sense it went down"? That is, it didnt make money or it did thats the way they work
Look at the Fidelity info page for this fund https://fundresearch.fidelity.com/mutual-funds/view-all/72200Q232. the expense fee on this fund is 2.75%ish which is terrible. SP500 has average annual return 13.95% over last 10 years vs a measly 3.57% for this fund in question
This is a bond fund. You didn’t mention your purchase price. You didn’t mention how much dividends you’ve gotten. Add those up. It will tell you your profit or loss
You are missing google......never invest in something before you know what u are investing in. That is investing 101. Where is this investment account at?
Etrade
Good place. I would take advantage of their research tools and learn about funds structure and fees. Like the other poster mentioned it’s a fund of funds and it’s expensive in terms of fees. A lot of times u can sort of make your own diversified fund using index etfs with lower fees (at least that’s what I do)
