Hi All, I have recently been told by my manager and HR in a meeting that I am put into PIVOT program. I have two options. Either take a decent severance amount and leave amazon, or work at improve plan. The improve plans has specific goals which according to me, are measurable and I think I will be able to do it. But after reading posts on blind and other sources, I see that chances of coming out of PIP are very rare, irrespective of how you perform in your tasks. Can anyone here please let me know if they were ever pipped and came out successfully from pip? I just want to know does performance or task really matter or eventually you're thrown out of the company, and also understand the ratio of success if we go for improve at amazon option? I have time of 5 business days to decide this, please help! #tech #pip #pivot #amazon
I had come out of PIP at amazon, so it is possible. But I resigned anyway. They will ask 2-3 sr folks to review every single line of code you write and smallest mistake will be pointed out. They will ask to write documents for so small things in lowest level of design. Which even the top performers dont do. Take the pip and start looking for new job. If you think the work given for pip is reasonable, that’s great. Make a good plan with timelines and follow that. Make sure to have good artifacts. Don’t focus on doing the right thing with the project, do the things that your manager cares about and understands. Its ugly but it is how things work.. Good luck, you will come out stronger.
Which year was this?
I have heard people come out of pivot but through the appeal. Appeal gets you unbiased review
You’re getting let go. Take the pip and find a new job right now. It’s easier to find a new job while you have a job.
any reason for you to take improve plan. you will have to put double the effort to come out of it. it’s better and easier to take the severence and search outside
Take the pip process and immediately look for new employment. The market is bad. You’ll have an easier time if you have a job currently. Just say Amazon is too much of a workload and it’s not working out. Everyone knows that Amazon sucks.
