It’s near Chennai. Workers were protesting for days and state government intervened and convinced workers. Foxconn has a bad reputation in China as well.
Interestingly Apple always acts surprised. I am amazed at how many Apple employees post about Meta or Amazon being immoral but they don’t speak up against these exploitation practices. They are ok with Foxconn just moving to newer pastures when the govt steps in.
I am wondering who assembles Pixels and if Google is doing any better.
Foxconn is supplier for google/Amazon as well. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foxconn Plus you can’t expect a company to operate on moral values. If you want to feel any better, back then many corporations worked with nazi government. So at least that’s not happening now.
Interestingly Reuters changed the title to say something like “Apple puts supplier on probation“. Seems like Apple PR is strong. How would they be unaware (again) of what happens at their top supplier?!
