It's been 2 months working at a new company. It's so hard to just set up local dev environment since there's alot of red tape getting access approved to internal tools so it has been blockers for about a month. The weird thing is, manager doesn't feel like a manager, it feels like she's just a fellow teammate wanting to compete, not helping with onboarding (but isnt that what a manager is suppose to do?), or guide you in getting the right tools, basically can't even help in clearing out my blockers cause she kept saying "i dont know, ill have to ask my skip" and then she forgets about it. Overall, team has been selfish and greedy, they're blaming others for not getting their work done when they're actually busy with their kids. They only want recognition for themselves. They're not willing to do knowledge transfer unless you're VP/Some high level/Indian/White/Came from internal. I feel like I'm faced with some sort of Rookie+Race discrimination where even with the knowledge transfer session, they're purposely not explaining it well with their poor english+murmuring, but when they have to guide some new VP joiner, they really guide them well. Also my requests for help or access are ignored even on team chats so basically blocked from doing work. Is this normal? Should i just coast? Anyone experienced similar? Any advice appreciated. Yea chase has a bad culture, pretty much everyone I've talked to said the same, like worse than Amazon bad because they don't even pay well, I don't know about Goldman sachs
Didn’t know Chase was worse than C1
Start sending out emails for requests. Add skip if they do not respond.
Your manager doesn't know how to run the show.
Probably new manager and is still thinking like an IC
interview or move lateral "reconsideration"
i kinda went thru this my manager wasn’t bad they just didn’t know anything but they’d def try to help. my skip skip was a little annoying in the beginning bc they wanted ML models quickly but once they realized it’s a shit show everywhere they stopped pressing
GS has ML roles?
Not really, but people decide to “use ML” and then assign other people to do it.
Why now
