Should I pay $11,000 for career coaching?
I switched from Kaiser to PPO last year since everyone was telling me that Kaiser was bad. After a year of using PPO in the Bay Area I find the following: - it is almost impossible to find a good doctor (MD or above) within a reasonable time span on Yelp or similar - health networks like Sutter Health or Stanford work almost like Kaiser and the choice of doctors is questionable to say the least - meme networks like Carbon Health are only good if you need a prescription since best they can provide with short waiting time is an NP. - unlike for Kaiser I have to pay for prescription refills - didn't test the emergency, but urgent care seems a bit better #insurance #medical #health Am I doing something wrong or is it the US thing?
You are absolutely right in every point.. PPO is mainly for optimizing with HSA savings IMO.
PPO got nothing to do with HSA, that's for HDHP
HDHP gets you the PPO network
Looks like it's the Bay area that is bad. Florida has a choice and availability of doctors. Specialists sometimes take longer to get appointments but other than that it seems not as bad as you describe.
Do you have a go to place in Florida ? Hospital?
No, I have a PCP and I take appointments as I need them. There are regular doctors I go to for preventive checks like eye doctor and others like Ortho , rheumatology etc when I need them. In any of the cases the wait isn't long. I couldn't get a Neuro surgeon appointment as mine isn't a case that needs immediate help.
It’s just you
Its really the US…. Lived in Europe and South Korea for a few years, & never had issues with going to any doctors. In fact, the experience was much better, whily govt. spends so much less
I guess OP is talking specifically about Kaiser. US healthcare in general, while a dumpster fire, is not what OP is focusing on.
You can get any PPO other than KP, that is going to be widely accepted by most hospitals. When you need an appointment you call the hospital and look for closest appointment, if they can't find it you call the next one.
Blue Cross has better offerings for PPO tbh
Ditto. Everyone tells me how bad Kaiser is but I've had significantly better experiences with Kaiser in California than other health insurance.
I like PPO because I make specialized appointments whenever I want. Kaiser can be good if you have a good doctor. But my uncle died from stage 4 stomach cancer because his Kaiser doctor didn’t offer an endoscopy for 20 years because he was a lazy fuck. Uncle was an older immigrant and barely spoke English. Knew nothing about health
My husband got Aetna for next year after trying KP this year. Hoping to get better doctors. I am still at KP since I had good experience so far also company is giving good plan with KP
Can anyone suggest a good alternative to Kaiser in Seattle?
