RIP Huawei

Trump moving to ban American companies from doing business with Huawei, which can't operate without parts from Qualcomm, Micron, Broadcom, Intel, etc.

VMware TigerShrof May 16, 2019

Just a trade war but looks like trump has shot himself In the foot.

Amazon luwo May 16, 2019

Can't see how this hurts Trump. It's going to hurt those US companies some and it's going to bankrupt Huawei.

VMware TigerShrof May 16, 2019

USA is not the universe. Huawei does a lot of business everywhere else . Sure they will get impacted but can’t see them going bankrupt.

Google DocOc May 16, 2019

Chinese government is dangerously encroaching themselves all over the world. They are buying strategic companies in all continents, power generation, distribution, telco, road infra. Pretty soon they will control everything. Governments’ greed for money are blinding their decision, and the whole world will pay. Huawei is a byproduct of the Chinese government which keeps throwing money at all Chinese companies with the goal to conquer the world. I side with Trump on this one

Tiger - yellow?

Facebook Confusd May 16, 2019

Huawei doesn't want to do business here either. This will hurt the US companies way more. Huawei doesn't need American companies, American companies need Huawei. Go do some research to realize how Huwawei is well ahead of anyone else in their industry.

Amazon luwo May 16, 2019

Huawei needs US companies. They can't make anything without US microchips. There are no non US suppliers.

Facebook Confusd May 16, 2019

Don't kid yourself. Go do some research. TS and Samsung each had more than double microchip sales than Qualcomm last year. Also, Broadcom, NXS, STM, Marell, SMI... just to name a few of 10s. The rest of the world doesn't revolve around the US. Neither are 7.2Billion people dependent on the US. Understand that the US is predominantly the consumer, not the provider.

Microsoft bagceo May 16, 2019

Good. Huawei are Chinese spies. They need to be burned with fire.

China just has to wait for 10 more years to take over the super power, because by then this great country would be stupid enough. I thought Trump would delay this process, because he seemed to have common sense. FIX the education system first! it’s hijacked by the left and we have no future. China will beat those brainwashed kids like a baby! Fighting Huawei is too trivial.

Cisco Cheese-Itz May 16, 2019

Trump is outnumbered by incompetent people in Congress. He is a boomer so, he truly believed in the system until the swamp gave him a wake up call. Trump is doing everything he can.... FANG unfortunately is about to get punched in the gut by him. You watch.

Apple castigator May 16, 2019

“Fix the education first” LOL, sure with DeVos

Oracle alwzangry May 16, 2019

Huawei came to Bay Area and hired some of the top engineers over a dozen years ago. It's too late by the time their power got noticed. Ban indicates that the US has run out of ways to stop them.

VMware TigerShrof May 16, 2019

Exactly

Twitter Oomnj May 16, 2019

Why do tech companies allows employees to use internal apps on huawei phones? Not a good strategy

Apple castigator May 20, 2019

Huawei is paying the price for being compliant to their own country laws. If you follow BlackHat conferences, their products are not more nor less secure than any other product. There is no proof they purposely engineered vulnerabilities, on the contrary they fixed them as they have been reported like any other company. The main point of contention is that US, like many other countries, decided to penalize China and use Huawei with bogus arguments to achieve that. It is a political decision we can or cannot agree. US does the same. They decide a policy and companies must comply, no matter what. Politicians decided no company can sell to Iran, and no company is selling to Iran, including non American ones.

Oracle alwzangry May 20, 2019

Letting other countries fight for business ties with the US has been a winning strategy for years. The people in power lobby to work for friends and against enemies to maximize advantage. It's not surprising, but it has the biggest impact because US is the biggest influencer so far.

Apple castigator May 20, 2019

They fear US because they know we have no problem nor no remorse to bomb the shit out of them to defend our economic interests. Like many we don’t give a damn about human rights, freedom and democracy; it is all about economic interests.

Google dtS2lP May 20, 2019

Good. More pressure for China to let US companies back in. My RSUs could use a price increase.

Oracle alwzangry May 20, 2019

Remember when customers hated getting locked in by vendors like Oracle or Microsoft or IBM? This event tells us that Google has taken that position in the mobile space.
