I am considering taking a (remote) software engineering internship in Fall 2020 with Tesla, but I have read complaints that they have a poor culture/work life balance. How hard/how many hours per week are SWE interns realistically expected to work? How does the WLB compare with typical big-company tech internships (e.g. MS, G)? I also wonder how the remote aspect will affect this.
Did you get the internship or are you applying?
Worrying about WLB is the wrong way to think. Drop out of school and get a job in retail if you are worried about this. 🙄
You aren’t stable enough to care about WLB. Get off blind and back to coding with you!
Had a friend intern at Tesla and said he had never been more stressed at a job before. Obviously YMMV but it sounded like you had to work hard for that return offer
Dude it's just an internship. Tesla is the most exciting company in the world. Go for it.
Take the internship and learn a lot. If you don’t like it, don’t accept the return offer and interview elsewhere when you graduate. I think a lot of companies will cancel internships if the economy tanks. A bird in the hand...
Take it. You'll earn a shit ton of overtime, which will compensate for the terrible WLB.
what swe internship? autopilot, fullstack, perception, etc.? know 5+ people do full stack internship, it's literally same as any other company. move buttons around, write some backend API, pretty unchallenging work. unless ur an idiot lol
It’s an internship with Tesla. Grind it out.
